This project for a rejuvenation of the city of Tripoli in Lebanon begins with a traumatic blind spot. The blind spot forms in the space once occupied by Oscar Niemeyer’s proposal for a fair and expo site. The trauma the blind spot conceals is not some violent aspect of the civil war in Lebanon but the disappearance of the future epitomized by the progressive, experimental impulse of the project.......more
