World Expo 2010 Shanghai,Finnish Pavilion | Avanto Architects
Our competition entry for the Finnish pavilion for the World Exhibition in Shanghai in 2010 emphasized the need to fight against global warming. In Finland we have been able to enjoy four seasons, each with a different climate. The pavilion demonstrates, in a positive way, what we loose if we let the temperature level rise.
The whole visit is planned to be done on skates. In the hot summer temperature this makes the visit more pleasurable and provides a memorable personal experience. The easily moved steel frame structure is draped with a free form textile facade. The entry was made together with POOK Architects.
