Hotel Miami Brooklyn, NY-KONYK

"The design for the new 65,000 sqft hotel that hovers over an existing artists’ loft building in downtown Brooklyn is a tapered form. In these preliminary studies, concrete party walls “bookend” the glass curtain walls. Two public open areas occur where the tower meets the existing building and at the top of the tower, where a suspended swimming pool allows bathers to swim in the clouds."

San Jose State University Museum of Art and Design (SJSU MoDA) By KONYK

San Jose’s position in the center of Silicon Valley necessitates that the new Museum of Design and Art (MoDA) be a center for emerging technologies encouraging their incorporation into design and art.
A 60 foot high volume is clad in dull white zinc. The interior volume is the exhibition “Kunsthalle” designed as a “white volumetric,” which is neutral until activated by art media. Inserted into this volume are educational spaces for studios and classrooms.
