Hernesaari area is a former industrial area on the Helsinki sea shore that is being developed into a new residential area. Temporary use is developed for the area while waiting for the future change. World Design Capital 2012 status is applied for this Sauna village project consisting of four different traditional smoke saunas turned into contemporary design saunas. Interesting views open up to city centre and to open sea, especially high up from top of the tower like vertical saunas. With this project Helsinki could offer foreign visitors a public all year round sauna experience - a must when visiting Finland........
