Mobile Exposure SCI_Arc Café Competition, Los Angeles, CA-Griffin Enright Architects
This project proposed a mobile, multipurpose space at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI_Arc) incorporating a café, kitchen, boardroom, and special event space. This new mobile café would serve as both a practical programmatic solution and a striking, visual beacon for visitors to events at the school. The vehicle for the project would be a standard size rail car chassis, powered by a hybrid electric engine fueled by solar energy collected on the skin of the project itself. The mobile capacity of the project reflects the shifting center of gravity within the institute of SCI_Arc, while the extensive application of ecologically responsible systems signifies the position of the school at the forefront of technology, enhancing the school’s role in the city at large.Griffin Enright Architects
