Architectural Design Competition | Fish market in Bergen, Norway | Kjellgren Kaminsky Architechture

The Bergen municipality launched a competition to design a new building on the towns major central marketplace. This was our proposal. By collecting all functions in a compact building with a small footprint the square can be used as a public space in the future as today. The resulting big open market space gives opportunities to different types of activities such as temporary markets, meeting point, outside bars, exhibition spaces, light installations etc. The public room reaches into the building and to the the balcony on the top floor which is public. Here visitors are given a beautiful view over the market space and the harbour!.....more
